The holiday’s have always been a happy time for me. I can listen to Christmas music for weeks and watch all the same Christmas movies year after year. (Home Alone & Elf are my fav) But this year is a little different… well, a lot different.
I’m struggling with my health, i’m in a new town living in a small apartment versus the house I grew up in and my parents are split up. Instead of focusing on everything that’s wrong though, which is really easy to do i’m choosing to go the harder route. Searching for the good.
Even though my health is not where I want it to be, i’m not bed ridden. Even though I don’t live in the same house I celebrated Christmas in for the past 12 years, I have a roof over my head. Even though my parents are split up, we are still celebrating as a family,
There is always something to be grateful for, it just sometimes gets clouded with the obstacles thrown your way.
If you’re feeling lonely this year or struggling with some hard times in your life, here are 5 gifts you can give to others that can make all the difference. (It’s the gift that keeps on giving!)
- Give your enemy forgiveness.
- Give a long lost friend your heart.
- Give a family member your time.
- Give a stranger an act of kindness.
- Give yourself love and lots of it!
This holiday season work really hard on finding the good in your life. Focus on gratitude because you have so much to be grateful for. And remember, you are never alone. If you’re feeling lonely, work up the courage to open up to someone. Be vulnerable and share your feelings. When you open your heart to others, the world changes.
Wishing you the happiest holiday filled with love, laughter, gratitude and joy.
