Tips to Stay at the Top

business development by kimberly morse marketing productivity Jul 16, 2021

Let’s face it: starting and running a business is no easy feat. It takes time, patience, skill, and determination to just keep your business afloat.

But it’s not time to keep surviving. It’s time to thrive.

Here are a few tips to keep you and your biz at the top πŸ“ˆ

Adapt to New Trends

New trends are constantly weaving their way into popular culture.

While you don’t need to follow every one of them that blows your way, you need to make sure you’re keeping up with them and bringing them into your business practices when it makes the most sense- especially if a trend starts sticking around for a while.

To illustrate, TikTok has absolutely blown up for personal brands and businesses alike. However, five years ago the platform wasn’t even a thought in most people’s minds. This trend has certainly blown up in the past five years and is crucial for your biz & brand to jump on ASAP if you’re not already there.

However, not all trends are as sticky as TikTok. Be sure to stay open-minded and adaptable with new trends while refraining from causing yourself or your team overwhelm.

Grow Your Online Platform

In today’s day and age, your online presence can make or break your biz!

There are so many benefits to having a solid online presence: Increased awareness, more insights on who you’re attracting and what they want, increased sales… the list is endless!

If your online presence is not where you want it to be, try using a cross-channel platform to measure your success and go from there!

However, when you’re looking at these metrics, remember to Keep it Simple! If you come across a platform that isn’t working for you and will take a lot of resources to learn, it may be time to focus your efforts elsewhere to grow the largest online presence you can in the places you know and are growing.

Cater to Your Customer

Grabbing your customers’ attention and keeping it is one of the most vital functions of business. Without customers to purchase your products, it’s bye bye business. πŸ‘‹

To ensure you’re catering to your customers, listen to their feedback, be responsive, and implement what you’re hearing.

Customers want to feel like they’ve been heard and see real change when grievances have been expressed. By giving them this mutual respect, you’re 100x more likely to gain a loyal customer.

Engage Employees

Employees and freelancers alike are the backbone of any company. Without them, your business is in danger of tumbling down from the tip.

So, it’s crucial to make sure you’re doing everything possible to keep your employees happy while keeping your business running smoothly.

Some ideas to help keep employees engaged in your business include constantly checking in with them, making sure they feel they have a safe space to come to you with any improvement they feel can be made, and rewarding them when possible for all the hard work they’ve done to help your dream come to life.

Build Your Brand

Similar to your online presence, your brand can help your business soar to the sky or plummet to the ground.

Having a strong brand identity, whether you’re a service-based biz building a brand for yourself or a product-based biz building a brand for your products, can have a monumental impact on not only your marketing, but your bottom line. πŸ’Έ

There are so many ways to boost your brand, whether it’s writing a book, speaking at an event, or growing your social media presence.

As with running a business, there are a multitude of things you can do to stay at the top. From focusing on your customers to building your brand, there are tons of ways to keep your business relevant and fresh!

However, if you take anything from our time together, remember that all of these tips are simply tools you have in your arsenal. Use them as needed and bring out the ones you’re not using when it’s time to take your biz to the next level. πŸš€
